The beauty of the 1911 is that it's equally at home in concealment as it is with open carrying - but very few, if any, 1911 holster models are able to do the same. Not everyone wants to carry the exact same way all the time, which would typically require one to have multiple holsters in order to have the freedom of choice.

Until now.

The Alien Gear ShapeShift 1911 holster is a not just a holster - it's a complete carry system, designed to allow you to carry your firearm in any manner you wish. If you prefer 1911 concealed carry, you can do that. If open carry on occasion is your preference, it will do that too. If you want an ultra-durable holster with active retention for daily open carry, wear around the house or in the outdoors, it will also do that.

The core of the ShapeShift is the shell system. Our new injection-molded polymer shells, instead of merely bolting onto a backer, are equipped with an interlocking rail of our design, which lock together via a tool-less twist lock. Included with your base ShapeShift 1911 holster kit includes one full Shift Shell and two trigger guards.

For the ultimate in OWB holsters, put the two full shells together and install the paddle attachment for a 1911 paddle holster that can withstand more punishment than you can likely dish out. You can also equip this holster configuration with active retention devices for incredible security.

However, if IWB carry is more to your liking, attach a half-shell to a full shell and install them on the included inside-the-waistband backer for a traditional 1911 IWB hybrid holster. Just like our IWB holster, the belt clips are fully adjustable for ride height and cant. The backer itself is much like our Cloak Tuck 3.0, with the same neoprene backing pad and Alien Skin top surface.

This holster configuration is also compatible with our Cloak Dock IWB holster mount.

Prefer a 1911 appendix holster? Attach the shells to the smaller backer instead, and install the larger IWB belt clip.

You can also deploy the belt slide attachment with the smaller backer to assemble a high-ride belt slide 1911 belt slide holster. This will disappear under an untucked shirt or light outerwear, if you prefer OWB concealment.

Retention is also customizable with the ShapeShift, as you can opt for passive or active retention.
